The Harvest Right Oil Filter is an essential tool for maintaining the longevity and efficiency of your vacuum pump oil, specifically designed for filtering vacuum pump oil only. While it is not dishwasher safe, the oil filter is straightforward to use and maintain. To begin, remove the cartridge from its packaging and press it firmly into the cartridge holder to ensure a secure fit. An optional feature is the dial on the lid, which can serve as a reminder of the month you last filtered your oil. When filtering oil, open the oil reservoir drain valve, allowing the oil to drain into the filter system completely, including lifting the rear of the pump to ensure all oil is expelled. As the oil filters, water and oil will separate, with water settling at the bottom. This water must be discarded, as reintroducing it into the pump can cause damage. Filtered oil should be free of debris, clear (even if yellow or amber in color), and not milky or chalky to indicate it is clean and ready for reuse. Replace the oil filter cartridge approximately every 15-20 uses or if the oil no longer drains well or appears dirty after filtering. For continued efficiency, always use new or properly filtered oil in your vacuum pump.
